Accessible Hispanic Portraits & Cultural Encounters

As part of the Month of Europe celebrations, the project Tissages “Synergéia”, led by the Valentin Haüy Association and Rennes 2 University, invites you to a unique, inclusive cultural experience focused on the Hispanic world. In partnership with the Maison Internationale de Rennes, this event will take place on May 21–22 and is open to everyone.

Portraits hispaniques accessibles : cultures de l’expérience” is a multi-sensory journey through Hispanic cultures, designed to be accessible for people with visual impairments while inviting all audiences to explore new ways of perceiving and connecting with art and intercultural heritage. Workshops will be offered to discover these cultures with lively ways of understanding them, through literature, music, dance, song, sculpture, film and many other artistic forms.

Sessions in Spanish and/or French will be orally translated.

Wednesday, May 21 | 2:30–5:30 PM
Location: Valentin Haüy Association, 4 Rue Baudrairie, Rennes

  • Event inauguration with Jean-Marc Trolet and Dolores Thion Soriano-Mollá
  • Special talk with María Enciso, former head of Culture and Sports at ONCE Cataluña
  • Hands-on workshops exploring Spanish literature, sculpture, music, and flamenco culture through tactile and auditory experiences
  • Featuring scholars, artists, and musicians from Rennes 2, the Sorbonne, and beyond

Thursday, May 22 | 10:00 AM–12:00 PM & 2:30–5:30 PM
Location: Maison Internationale de Rennes, 7 Quai Chateaubriand, Rennes

  • Interactive morning sessions:
    • Literary journeys through migrant experiences and embodied storytelling
    • Improvisational poetry by women around the world
    • Voices from forgotten Spain during Francoism, brought back to life through film and AI
  • Afternoon workshops celebrating the shared roots of Galicia and Brittany
  • A collaborative artistic lab:
    • Movement and contemporary dance
    • Sculpting self-identity through tactile art
    • Exploring how we move, see, and feel — together

 

This event not only celebrates Europe but also highlights the power of inclusive intercultural exchange and the rich contributions of the Hispanic world. Join us in discovering how art, sound, movement, and touch can transcend barriers and open new ways of understanding.
